I first felt the healing magic of plants as a young child growing up in the coastal community of Powell River, on Canada's pacific west coast. I spent much time alone climbing the wild rugged hills, walking the thick evergreen forests and sitting in the comforting arms of the strangely red barked Arbutus tree, At that moment my training began! It would be many years later, in Vancouver, B.C. in 1981, under the tutelage of revered west coast herbalist Norma Myers, that I would learn the medicinal importance of the Arbutus tree, " this tree dispels melancholy and brings lightness of spirit".

For a child suffering alone with depression, the tree provided healing.

Now a folk-herbalist for over 30 years, I proudly have no formal diplomas.  There are no shortcuts to knowledge, it has been a lifetime pursuit unravelling the mystery one thread at a time through association with healers and herbal elders, with special thanks to my first teacher and inspiration Norma Myers and to the many plant healers who continue to teach and inspire.

I now make my home in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island where I have lived for the past 20 years, leading experiential workshops and classes in wildcrafting, Tree Spirit Healing, Druidic Herbology, Wild Woman Gatherings and medicine making.  All my classes embrace the spirit of communication with nature and exploring the magic of plant healing in the classroom of the Wilds.

Since 1995,  I have offered an apprenticeship program where the only prerequisite is enthusiasm, and in 1998 Hedgewych Wylds (formerly Hedgewytch Herbs) was born, out of my passion for wildcrafting and my love for family and friends in need of real health solutions.
